An anti-vaping PSA from the US released in 2020. Infamous for its frequent presence.

The_Facts_About_Vapes_Are_Scary_Enough_-_The_Real_Cost

Nicknames: "The Facts About Vapes Are Scary Enough", "Nothing Is As Scary As The Facts", "We Made a Metal Monster"

Description: A man stands in an empty building, telling the viewer about how vaping can lead to inhaling toxic metals. There is a large, metallic, stegosaurus-like CGI monster behind him, which the man says was created to show how scary the idea of that is. The monster then spews metal shards from its mouth, which then "impale" the man (or at least enter his body), but he is actually unharmed as the screen cuts to a woman editing the CGI effects for this moment on some screens while the man is still there. Then it cuts to some musicians composing the soundtrack for the encounter with the monster, while a TV in the room shows the scene continuing with the man being chased by the monster. But then the man says that all this isn't as scary as the truth behind vapes and toxic metals, with the monster completely vanishing from this point on. At the end, we get a shot of the film crew in the building while The Real Cost's logo is imposed on the screen.

Music/Sounds: The man's narration, the sounds of the action, intense orchestral music and the famous Wilhelm Scream sound effect.

Script:

"If you vape, you could be inhaling toxic metals into your lungs. To show you how scary that is, we made metal monsters. With special effects that show metal particles being inhaled. And music, music that would've made your heart race. But nothing is as scary as the facts. Vaping can deliver toxic metals like nickel and lead into your lungs. That's metal. In your lungs."

Variant: There's a shorter variant that reduces the runtime to about 17 seconds. This version removes the film-making parts of the PSA

Cheesy Factor: The tone of this commercial feels hard to take seriously. The short version takes it further, feeling awkwardly made.

Availability: Very common to see before YouTube videos.

Scare Factor: Low to Medium for first time viewers, due to the monster seemingly impaling the man with metal shards, though the meta tone would soften the impact. After seeing it for a while, the scare factor is None, for being more annoying than anything else.
